Hi friends! I’m here today to show you the branding process for one of my newest design adventures for my friend, former coworker, and fellow Boss Babe, Kayla Nelson.
Kayla got her LLC around about the same time I incorporated, so I feel a very deep connection with her! She is an incredibly talented interior designer+ and puts her all into creating thoughtful, visually pleasing spaces.
I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Kayla well before I even started working with her on her new branding, which was a huge advantage! Even so, I still went through the exact same process with her that I do with every other client.
First things first, branding questionnaire! I love this part so much. I get to really deep dive into your ‘why’, find out your mission and goals, and flesh out how you want your new brand to feel and connect with who you are and what your business does. This will be the basis of all my design choices moving forward.
Now comes the fun part: designing! After some research, I began working on 3 different concepts for her to take a peek at:
After the initial presentation, I let Kayla sit with the proposal for a couple of days to wrap her head around what direction she wanted to go in. I always recommend doing this, because I’ve found that the client’s initial favorite doesn’t end up winning in the end! I also ask that my client shows it to two people close to them, and have them say which option looks most like them and their work.
Once the appropriate mulling was finished, Kayla decided to move forward with option 2 (and bits of 1 and 3…) with a few changes. Here’s what round 2 looked like:
From here we ended up tweaking the colors one more time, editing the branding system, and adding some brand photography/textures.
And voila! I passed Kayla the files and she has implemented them BRILLIANTLY on Instagram. I love nothing more than seeing my clients use their brand’s guidelines to create visuals to help them attract their dream clients. My little designer heart grew a size being able to work with Kayla. Can’t wait to work with my next female creative entrepreneur!
Does this look like something you need? Let’s hop on the phone and chat about it! Your first call is on me.
